A brief note 

DOCTOR JOHN DAHLSEN was born in Sydney on 12th December 1958 and, after studying art in Melbourne for some years, came to Perth in the early ‘Eighties.

In many ways, John Dahlsen should be a role model for young artists, because if ever there was a battler in the arts community, it was he. For some time, he had a studio alongside John Beard in Fremantle, where I was a frequent visitor, and I became quite aware of his frustrations.

After leaving Fremantle, John moved to Byron Bay, NSW, where he has lived for the past thirty years.
